Dear Blog

How I have neglected thee (as usual)! It's not that I haven't been blogging. I've written at least half a dozen blogs on a variety of topics, including a few reviews of books and movies. However, I haven't completed any of them. I'm also trying to pull together my simplicity work and writing over on Simple Pleasures, and I haven't even started any posts there! I've actually been doing a lot of work around my house: decluttering, moving furniture, reorganizing pretty much everything... Fortunately, I've gotten some help with the heavier stuff, since I'm not physically capable of, for example, moving a bed by myself.

We just keep on keeping on.

Stats

Okay, for what it's worth, I've started looking at my blog stats out of curiosity. I don't get a lot of traffic, but it's at least fairly consistent. I've been mostly amused by the Google search terms that have led people to click on my blog, such as:
"black people hipster meme" (Huh?)
"uo on the rocks" (Huh?!)

"happy days potpourri" (If this is a product, I should get the manufacturer to sponsor my blog.)

"darkwing duck cartoon" (Aw, yeah)

"maternity clothes for skinny women" (So rude. Lol.)

However, I'm also quite confused and disturbed by the fact that the primary traffic source for my blog is a Russian site (domar [dot] ru, seeming more than a little shady as a money-making site). What is going on, Russia? Why me? Weird. Maybe I need to reevaluate my security measures.

Hey, everybody!

I'm not dead, or even unconscious. Sorry for being MIA these past two days. I went to a football-related party (I know, shocking, right?!) on Saturday, which I'd already committed to, so I felt obligated to go even though I wasn't really in a party mood. In the end, I'm glad I went because I had a good time, but you know how it is when you have to go be social when you don't really want to (or that just me?). Anyway, then on Sunday, I did a lot of productive stuff around the house. None of my activities made for particularly good reading material, and I couldn't think of anything to write.

Technology

I'm blogging. While at the zoo. Just because I can. Mind-blowing.

I'm in the reptile house and it's bedlam in here.

Oh! What Sadness We Reflect...

...When our blogs we do neglect.

I saw a coworker posting on Blogger this morning and was shamed into remembering that I just haven't kept up with the blogging lately.

Things have been busy but fun. I'm relearning all the complications involved in being a homeowner. I'm working some overtime. I'm coping with being a parent of a 3-year-old. I'm doing stuff in my life, often failing, but then picking myself up, dusting myself off, and starting over again.

NaBloPoMo: Accomplished!

Well, it is slightly after midnight (and thus December already) here in the US Eastern time zone, but it's still November west of here. I have already posted 32 entries in November 2010.

As far as my wisdom teeth are concerned, I'm doing all right. Not much pain to speak of, but I have swelling and bruising on the right side of my mandible and I'm still on some medication, which has the lovely side effect of making me dizzy and lightheaded at times. I'm almost done with that stuff, though.

My life has some struggle centered around the fact that I'm just overwhelmed and exhausted, and the Bug is not making anything easier. I spent 3 hours putting him to bed tonight, and he just refused to go to sleep. I gave up at 11:30 and went to shower, but when I got through with that, I found him in the bedroom still awake. It is now past midnight, as I mentioned, and he is STILL awake. I just can't do this anymore. I can't be a single mom. I can't spend hours and hours of my day just trying to get the child to sleep so that I can get some sleep (because, remember, I'm EXHAUSTED). I have to work tomorrow. I have to be productive at work so I can remain employed and we can avoid being homeless and starving.

Blog Template Update

I made some changes to my blog's template, hoping to make Youtube videos appear properly. Now you can see Youtube videos embedded, but other stuff is messed up. Sorry! I'll fix it when I can. It's too late to do so effectively now.

Delurk

Someone, somewhere, made it so that January 14 was National Delurking Day. Obviously, I totally missed the boat on that one, but since it's not actually a law or whatever, I'll just do my own delurking event. It can last as long as I want.

So, readers! If you read this blog, however rarely or frequently, just go ahead and leave a comment. Please! It will make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

November already

November, and NaBloPoMo, crept up on me. I already didn't post on the first day of National Blog Posting Month (which someone, I don't know who, perhaps the Astronomer Royal, made up as a counterpart to National Novel Writing Month), so I'm a loser.

I don't know if I'll be able to even come up with anything entertaining enough to sustain 30 posts. We shall see.

Aw

I decided to delete my previous post, as it turned out to be more controversial than I'd expected. I have no fear of controversy, but this particular topic just didn't warrant that much attention. It seemed way funnier when I posted it late at night than it was in the morning. Lol.

Drat

I've become what I most fear and despise: One of those mothers who suddenly has nothing on her blog but pictures and posts about her baby. I used to mock those people, especially the ones who didn't limit themselves to their private blogs but posted all that junk in Torrey Chatter on BUBBS.

"Why do they do that?" I'd gripe. "It's ridiculous. Don't they realize that if I want to see pictures of their babies, I'll contact them and say Hey, send me some pictures of your baby? Otherwise, I don't need to see or hear about their brats."

In my own defense, you only have to look at my blog if you so choose, and I've put absolutely no pictures of Nathan on BUBBS.

Decisions, et al

Well, the poll numbers are in (you can still see, in the upper left corner).
11 people voted that they would consider reading a bloggy 'zine type thing on rental life.
5 people voted that they wouldn't.
So there was greater than 2:1 ratio of yes-to-no votes.

I've been thinking a lot about it, and I'd have at least a tiny audience, but I'd want to do a good job and actually work out articles that would be useful and interesting, and it would be something of a commitment, in terms of both time and brain cells. So, I'm not sure what I'll be doing, yet. I'll keep you posted.

Revamp

I have a new theme and a new look (currently boring, but I'm going to try designing a header and some other stuff) for my blog.

I'll be posting more, for real. I'm sure you're all relieved to hear it.
